Personal & Group Jewish Heritage Guided Tours in Israel
About

Meet the guide
I'm Yoni Lemel, an Israeli English-speaking tour guide (license number 23221) certified by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. This is my guiding portal where I showcase some of the tours I offer to individuals, families, and groups. You can either
-
Pick a standard off-the-shelf tour on a date and time you choose
-
Jump into a sheduled tour or
-
Ask me to design something bespoke, just for you.
Background
My wife and I made Aliya from the UK in 2022. We were members of the Orthodox Jewish community, first in Manchester and then in Hendon, London. I previously ran a landscaping business, but I quickly realised it wasn’t the right path for me in Israel. I wanted something new — and guiding felt like the natural fit.
Influences
In Jewish philosophy (Hashkafot), I hold Rav Kook, the first Chief Rabbi of the modern era, in high regard. My alma mater was the University of Wales Aberystwyth, where I graduated in International Politics and Strategic Studies in 1985. My favourite writers at the moment are Benny Morris, Oren Kessler (history) and Leem Ritmayer (archeology).
Professionalism
There are many licensed tour guides in Israel. Given the rigorous exams we all have to pass, I can confidently say we’re all well qualified. But what is there to expect from an Israeli licensed guide beyond the badge?
-
Customer satisfaction as a priority
-
Excellent knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for the subject
-
Strong organisational and communication skills
These are the standards I humbly work toward.
Motivation
I love people, history, and the great outdoors. Most importantly, I want to keep making that deep connection with Judaism and our 3,000-year-old heritage in the Land of Israel. Helping others make that connection is my main motivation. I guide across Israel on a wide range of themes, but I focus especially on T’nach, Talmud, Josephus, and the modern history of the Zionist Yishuv and the early years of the State.
Network
I’m well connected in the Israeli tourism scene. I work with a reliable coach company and know many tour guides who speak a range of languages. If you prefer a lady tour guide, or a tour in another language or with a different religious or cultural emphasis, I’m happy to recommend a colleague.
Planning your tour
If you’re looking for something that isn’t listed on the site, that’s no problem. I’m happy to create a custom itinerary for you. Just get in touch and I’ll send you a personalised proposal with pricing — with no obligation.
It’s time to connect to your heritage and to the Land of Israel — ארץ ישראל.
