I will not tell you Israel is an ordinary destination. Sirens sometimes happen. I still guide, and I still take families.

What I actually do: I plan the day around the current Home Front picture, not last month’s brochure. I do not take groups into areas the authorities have closed.

 

Jerusalem’s main sites, the coast, the Galilee and the Golan when the roads are open, Zichron, the Dead Sea and Masada are the days I am running. If a road or a site is shut that morning, I change the plan and I tell you before we set off.

 

Tourist areas you will actually see — the Old City, the Kotel plaza, Tel Aviv, Haifa, the national parks — have the same visible security they have had for years. That is not a guarantee. It is why the streets are busy.

Two things I ask of every group. Buy proper travel insurance that covers cancellation and medical care. Book a Ministry of Tourism licensed guide. Mine is 23221.
